DEC. 27, 2010: Olivia man remains in Renville Co. jail, to be charged Tuesday in child death
OLIVIA -- The suspect held in connection to the Dec. 24 death of a 19-month-old Olivia child is Sergio Turrubiates Jr., 19, of Olivia.
Formal charges against Turrubiates are expected to be filed Tuesday morning in Renville County District Court and he is expected to appear in court at 3:30 p.m., according to a news release from Renville County Attorney David Torgelson.
The child, Tiana Moore, died Friday after being airlifted to Children's Hospital in St. Paul. Her injuries were determined to be "significant" after she was taken by ambulance around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday to Renville County Hospital.
Turrubiates was arrested after the Olivia Police Department received a 911 call that a child was unresponsive. He is being held in the Renville County Jail.
The Minnesota Attorney General's office is assisting the Renville County Attorney's office with the case.
