Dec. 27, 2012: Highway 71 is now open following fatal accident near intersection with state Highway 9

NEW LONDON - U.S. Highway 71 has now reopened, according to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Department.

Highway 71 had been closed north of Highway 9 since about 11:15 a.m. today due to a two-vehicle crash near the intersection of Highway 71 and 9.

The crash involves a semi truck and a minivan. Both vehicles came to rest in the ditch.

The Minnesota State Patrol said the accident did include fatalities. No further information has been released at this time.
