ST. PAUL -- More than 550 soldiers of the 1st Battalion, 151st Field Artillery will be returning home today and Saturday, according to the Minnesota National Guard in St. Paul.
The units based in Olivia, Madison, and Marshall are expected today, while the headquarters and headquarters battery in Montevideo, and Appleton, Morris and Ortonville units are expected on Saturday.
Olivia B Battery, 56 soldiers
10:30 a.m. at the BOLD High School in Olivia. Everyone is welcome to line the streets beginning around 10 a.m. to welcome them on their way to the school. They are expected to arrive on U.S. Highway 212 and proceed on Ninth Street to the school.
Madison, B Battery, 55 soldiers
Noon at the elementary school in Madison
Marshall, A Battery, 105 soldiers
2 p.m. Marshall Armory
Montevideo, Appleton, Ortonville
Soldiers from C Battery in Ortonville, Headquarters and Headquarters Battery in Montevideo and the 175th Forward Support Company in Appleton are scheduled to arrive on Saturday.
Soldiers will arrive at 11 a.m. Saturday in Montevideo, and a program is slated at 11:30 a.m. at Montevideo High School.
The West Central Tribune will announce further times and locations on its Web site at www.wctrib.com as soon as they are available.
Morris, C Battery
11:45 a.m. in downtown Morris. Line the streets to greet the troops. The soldiers will continue to the National Guard Armory in Morris for private meeting with family members.
There will be a 2:15 p.m. public program at the University of Minnesota physical education center. Special seating for any veteran wishing to attend.
The Morris troops are expected to follow a route through Glenwood, Starbuck and Cyrus. They will be escorted from Sauk Centre to Morris by county sheriff's officers.
The Patriot Guard will meet the troops in Starbuck and escort the troops as well.
The public is welcome to greet the troops as they reach the downtown.
