Another project and detour will begin Monday in the southern part of the county.

Weather permitting, work will begin Friday to replace a bridge in New London Township located three-tenths of a mile southeast of the junction of Kandiyohi County Road 9 on 153rd St NE.

The construction zone will be closed to traffic.

The work will consist of replacing the existing timber bridge with a concrete bridge structure and approach grading. Construction is scheduled for 55 working days.

Crews will also begin work Monday on Kandiyohi County Road 2. The project will extend from 1.06 miles south of Kandiyohi County Road 77 to State Highway 7.

Through traffic on Kandiyohi County Road 2 will be diverted east on Renville County Road 11, north on state Highway 4 and west on state Highway 7.

The work, which is expected to last for 60 working days, will consist of bridge replacement, grading operations, gravel base and bituminous base. The final lift of bituminous surfacing will be placed in 2010.
