Falk, 29, of DFL-Murdock, led Republican challenger Tim Miller, 46, of Prinsburg by an unofficial tally of 10,465 to 8,906 to hold the District 17A House seat.

Miller was making his first bid for state office and faced an uphill battle against the incumbent Falk. Re-districting left much of Falk's original, rural district intact.

District 17A includes all of Chippewa and Swift counties, most of Renville County and the southwestern corner of Kandiyohi County.
