Rice will seek the DFL Party endorsement at the Senate District 13 convention in Belgrade on March 14.

"Good jobs, quality education opportunities, accessible health care, and strong communities are the foundation of a prosperous west central region and state as a whole," said Rice. "We can get through these tough times, but we need to bring some west central Minnesota common sense to Saint Paul."

Rice grew up in Willmar, graduated from Willmar High School and attended Willmar Community College. He has a bachelor's degree from Metropolitan State University, a MBA from the University of St. Thomas and a law degree from Hamline University School of Law.

As a local small business owner, Rice has focused primarily on landscape and design/build home construction projects for the past 35 years.

Rice and his wife, Cindy, have three grown children and two son-in-laws.
