Diana Smid April 9, 1942 - July 2, 2009
NEW LONDON -- Diana Faye Smid, 67, of New London, died Thursday at her home after a battle with cancer.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Hope Presbyterian Church in Spicer. Burial will be in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in George, Iowa.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home in New London and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was born April 9, 1942, in Lyon County, Iowa, to John and Gertrude (Schilling) Kruger. She grew up in Little Rock, Iowa, where she graduated from high school in 1960.
She married Larry Smid on Oct. 1, 1963, in Sioux Falls, S.D. They lived in George, Iowa, and, in 1969, moved to Dawson. In 1977, they moved to New London where they owned and operated Smid Accountancy and Trading Company. Following the death of her husband in 1997, she retired. She was a member of Hope Presbyterian Church in Spicer where she was a member of ladies circle.
She is survived by her children: Darla (and Brad) Amundson of Houston, Laura Burns of Byron, Dallas (and Christine) Smid of Litchfield and Jon Smid of St. Cloud; seven grandchildren; brothers: Donald (and Phyllis) Kruger of Sibley, Iowa, and Darvin (and Therese) Kruger of St. Cloud.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
