Domestic incident ends in slow-speed chase, collision with squad car

WILLMAR -- A domestic incident Tuesday between a mother and daughter ended in a slow-speed chase and a collision with a squad car near New London.

According to a press release from the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's office, a deputy received a report at 5 p.m. Tuesday of a domestic incident between a 46-year-old woman and her 16-year-old daughter. The location of the incident was not available at press time.

An investigation revealed the daughter was injured in the incident and was transported to Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar by New London Ambulance. The mother fled the scene in a Dodge Dakota pickup.

At 6:30 p.m., a deputy spotted the pickup on state Highway 23, south of New London. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, but a 40 mph pursuit ensued, according to the release.

The pursuit continued to New London where the pickup stopped after hitting a squad car.

The driver was taken to Rice for injuries suffered in the domestic incident.

The woman faces charges of fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, criminal damage to property and driving while impaired.

The Minnesota State Patrol, Department of Natural Resources, New London Ambulance and Willmar Ambulance assisted deputies.
