MONTEVIDEO -- Don Duane Baerenwald, 75, of Montevideo, died Friday at Luther Haven Nursing Home.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Burial with military honors will be at Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Montevideo and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
He was born March 19, 1933, in Rolston, Iowa, to Paul and Freda (Brandt) Baerenwald. He attended school in Little Rock, Iowa, and Willmar Vocational Technical College.
He married Marilyn Saltee on Nov. 27, 1954, in Roswell, N.M. He served in the U.S. Air Force, receiving his honorable discharge in 1956.
He worked as a semi-truck driver for many years and was also employed by Chippewa County.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo and the Montevideo American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his wife; his son: Kim of Montevideo; daughters: Tamara (and Gregg) Kelly of Kankakee, Ill., Vicki Schlenner of Stewart and Brenda (and David) DeJong of Montevideo; seven grandchildren; and a sister: Glenda (and Trav) Potter of Sheldon, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister and one brother.
