MORRIS -- Donald James Riley, 87, of Morris died Friday at the Southview Manor in Benson.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Morris.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 pm, at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church Tuesday.
He was born Sept. 18, 1921, on the home farm in Stevens County to William and Mabel (Brouillet) Riley. He grew up on the farm and attended St. Mary's School in Morris. After completing the 8th grade, he was needed on the farm and began working full time with his father. He eventually took over the farming operation.
On Sept. 25, 1946, he married Eileen Ritter in Chokio. They made their home on the Riley farm, where they lived and farmed until 1992, when they retired and moved into Morris. They made their home in Morris until Eileen's death in 2004. At that time, he moved to Benson to be closer to his family.
He was a life-long member of Assumption Catholic Church in Morris where he had been a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his three children: Linda (and Donnie) Razink of Benson, Roger Riley (and Barb Keppen) of LaCrosse, Wis., and Gregory (and Monica) Riley of St. Croix Falls, Wis.; four grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and two sisters: Marie Grossman of Chokio and Eileen Goracke of Annandale.
He was preceded in death by his wife and six brothers.
