Donald A. Mahlow July 3, 1932 - March 7, 2009
LAKE LILLIAN -- Donald Anthony Mahlow, 76, of Lake Lillian, died Saturday at his home.
The service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the United Lutheran Church in Lake Lillian. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 430.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Arrangements with Hughes Funeral Home in Hector.
He was born July 3, 1932, in East Lake Lillian Township, Kandiyohi County, to Otto Jr. and Louise (Gass) Mahlow. He grew up near Bird Island and attended country school. He served in the Army from 1952 to 1954.
He married Lucille Bomstad on Dec. 7, 1956, in Willmar. They lived in Willmar before moving to Lake Lillian in 1964. He was a member of the carpenters union and worked with his brothers for many years. In 1971, they formed the Mahlow Brothers Construction Company. He was a member of the American Legion Post 430 in Bird Island and a member for many years of Grace Lutheran Church in Lake Lillian.
He is survived by his wife; children: Darin (and Renee) Mahlow of Litchfield, Chad (and Judith) Mahlow of Litchfield and Leah Mahlow of Willmar; two grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; brothers Richard (and Delores) Mahlow of Bird Island and Gary (and Alice) Mahlow of Bird Island.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather: Glen Sherwood; and one brother.
