COSMOS -- Donavon Harold Bluhm, 75, of Cosmos, died Sunday at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church and for one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with Hughes Funeral Home in Hector.
He was born May 23, 1933, in Morgan to Harold and Etta (Voeltz) Bluhm. The family moved to Buffalo Lake in 1944 and he graduated from Buffalo Lake High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army for three years and then attended Mankato State University.
He married Esther Wiehr on Aug. 31, 1957, in Mankato. They moved to Lake Crystal for five years while he attended school and worked in Mankato. They moved to Cosmos in 1963 and he taught junior high math, history, and science and was the wrestling coach for more than 25 years. He retired from teaching in 1993 and managed his photography business until 1998. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos and served as a trustee. He was a charter member of the Cosmos Lions and served on the city council.
He is survived by his wife; daughters: Diane (and Calvin) McClain and Susan (and Steven) Whitcomb, all of Lake Lillian; seven grandchildren and one sister: Mary Ann (and Bernard) Carrigan of Buffalo Lake.
He was preceded in death by one sister and one grandson.
