Doris S. King Sept. 9, 1929 - Aug. 29, 2013

DANUBE -Doris S. King, age 83, of Danube, died Thursday, August 29, 2013, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 2, 2013, at Zion United Methodist Church in Danube. The Revs. David Drager and Dean Nosek will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 1, 2013, from 5-7 p.m. in the Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Renville. Visitation continues on Monday one hour prior to the services at the church in Danube.

Doris S. King was born on September 9, 1929, in Loyalton, South Dakota to Emil and Stella (Kukrall) Kadlec. She and her family lived in Loyalton, South Dakota until Doris was in 5th grade, they then moved to McGrath, Minnesota. Doris graduated from McGrath High School in 1947, and furthered her education at St. Cloud School of Business. Following business college, she lived in Bird Island and worked at a car dealership. It was during this time she met her husband to be Vernon. They were united in marriage on July 15, 1950, in McGrath. They later moved to Danube and Doris worked at the A.S.C.S. office in Olivia for a number of years. She later worked at the Farmers Co-op Elevator in Danube as a book keeper for many years, and also worked at the office in Renville prior to her retirement. She loved the Lord, and was an active member of Zion United Methodist Church in Danube, where she served as treasurer. Doris loved to bowl, play cards, and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends and family over the years.

Survivors include her three daughters and their spouses: Diana (and Loran) Olson of Gold Canon, AZ, Cindy (and Rick) Ryan of Willmar, and Janet (and Jeff) Oitzman of Chandler, AZ; her grandchildren: Nathan (and Andrea) Zuidema, Nick (and fiancée Benita Donis) Olson, Carissa (and Ross) Pederson, Ben (and Steph) Ryan, JoDee (and Jon) Driggs, and Ashley and Paige Oitzman; 8 great grandchildren: Natalie and Courtney Zuidema, Addison and Emersyn Pederson, Andrew Bulthuis-Ryan, Thomas Ryan, Jon Driggs, Jr., and Juul Driggs; her brothers and sisters: Elgin Kadlec of Mora, Darrell Kadlec of McGrath, Jean Wood of Plymouth, and Edna (and Bob) Danielson of Big Lake; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Vernon.
