Dorothy Halverson April 28, 1915 - July 10, 2009
GLENWOOD -- Dorothy Halverson, 94, of Glenwood, died Friday at Glenwood Retirement Village in Glenwood.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Lutheran Church.
Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. today at All Saint's Chapel in Glenwood Retirement Village. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.
She was born April 28, 1915, in St. Paul to Frank and Antonia (Zaske) Zima. She moved to Glenwood in 1916 and lived there her entire life. She graduated from Glenwood High School and Minnesota School of Business. On Aug. 26, 1939, she married Mel Halverson.
She worked as a legal secretary, bookkeeper, tax accountant, clerk of the Pope County Selective Service Board and Selective Service area coordinator. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, including the Auxiliary drill team, Glenwood Lutheran Church and Glenwood Cemetery Association. She was a member of the Minnewaska Gold Club and several bridge clubs.
She is survived by her niece, whom she raised: Jean (and John) Mellett.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and a sister.
