Dorothy Malecek Sept. 27, 1920 - April 27, 2009
OLIVIA -- Dorothy Malecek, 88, of Olivia, died Monday at St. Cloud Hospital.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
She was born Sept. 27, 1920, in Morton to Nick and Mary (Toussaint) Sanger. She attended District 101 School and Olivia High School.
She married Charles Malecek on June 28, 1938, in Lamberton. They lived in Bechyn where they owned and operated the Bechyn store for 25 years. They later moved to Olivia. She was employed for 19 years as a nurse's aide at Renville County Hospital, retiring in 1985.
She was an active member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church and the CCW and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her nine children: Marie Kojetin of Willmar, Judy (and Bill) Zaccheo of Waite Park, Diane (and Robert) Wohnoutka of Spicer, Gordon (and Sandy) Malecek of San Angelo, Texas, Steve (and Gwyn) of Malecek of Hutchinson, James (and Rita) Malecek of Decatur, Ill., Robert Malecek of Rosemount, Charlene Malecek (and John) of Olivia, and Richard Malecek of St. Peter; 28 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Elenore Schweinfurter of Redwood Falls, Bette (and Virgil) Anderson of Mora and Robert Sanger of Lamberton.
She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son: Charles Malecek Jr.; a granddaughter; a son-in-law: John Kojetin; a daughter-in-law: Connie Malecek; and two sisters.
