WILLMAR - Dorothy Marian Norsten, 92, of Willmar, died Friday, December 20th at Sterling House. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 27 at 11AM at the Assembly of God in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial will be held in the Spicer City Cemetery. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home.

Dorothy Marian Norsten was born in Willmar, MN on September 17, 1921 to Edward and Christine (Anderson) Johnson of rural Kandiyohi. She attended District #61, south of Kandiyohi and graduated from Willmar High School in 1939. She was united in marriage to Donald Norsten on December 31, 1942, at her parents farm, in rural Kandiyohi, when he was home on furlough from the United States Army.

She was a member of Willmar Assembly of God. She served in Childrens Ministries for 18 years as a Beginners Sunday school teacher and Superintendent. She also served as a BGMC story teller, the Young Womens Missionary Council supervisor, a nursery worker and volunteered with a serving group. When she and Don retired, they counted offerings for the church for a number of years.

She began her employment in 1957, as a Laboratory Technician with the University of Minnesota at the Poultry Testing Laboratory in Willmar. She retired as a Senior Laboratory Technician after 29-1/2 years of service.

They enjoyed taking their grandkids on vacations. In their retirement, Dorothy and her husband spent a couple of months in Arizona during the winters.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Jim (Karen) Norsten of Spicer; daughter-in-law, Sue (Jerry) Schiro; seven grandchildren: Todd (Leslie) Norsten, Eric (Kim) Norsten, Chad Norsten, Jana Norsten, Kristen Norsten, Amy (Nick) Ciske, and Scott (Alissa) Norsten; 10 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Susie June Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald in 1998; her son Dale; an infant daughter, Betty Jane; her parents, and two brothers, Carlton and Robert.
