GRANITE FALLS -- Dorothy Caroline Meyer, 104, of Granite Falls, died Saturday at Riverside Assisted Living in Granite Falls.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Granite Falls Lutheran Church. Burial will be at the Sacred Heart City Cemetery.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Wing-Bain Funeral Home of Granite Falls.
She was born Jan. 25, 1905, in Marathon, Iowa, to Gilbert and Nona Mae (Thomas) Gulbranson. During her high school years, her family moved by train to Sacred Heart. Following her schooling she worked as a maid in Minneapolis.
She married Vernon Meyer on Nov. 27, 1929. They farmed on farms by Marshall, Canby and Hanley Falls. They lived in Florida in the winter where they maintained an orchard and sold fruit. After her husband's death, she lived in Hanley Falls and later at Granite Ridge and then at Riverside Assisted Living in Granite Falls.
She is survived by her children: Arlene (and Glen) Haroldson of Wood Lake, Audrey (and Kenneth) Kontz of Alexandria and Vernon (and Audrey Gwyn) Meyer of Avondale, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, four sisters and one brother.
