Dorothy Thomson Sept. 23, 1919 - Sept. 7, 2013

Dorothy Lenore Thomson, 93, of Willmar died Saturday September 7th, 2013 at Bethesda Pleasantview Nursing Home in Willmar. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday September 11th, at the Church of St. Mary in Willmar. Burial will be at St. Marys Cemetery, in Willmar. Visitation will be 6-8 P.M. on Tuesday September 10th at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Dorothy was born on September 23rd, 1919 in Fort Francis, Ontario Canada to American parents: Matthew B. and Mabel A. (LaPlante) Miller. She attended St. Marys Grade School, and graduated from Fort Francis High School in 1935 and vocational school in 1938. She later went on to graduate from Minneapolis Business College.

Dorothy worked for Gamble-Skogmo, in Minneapolis as an Executive Secretary. She also worked at Minnesota-Ontario Paper Company as a shipping and customs clerk. Dorothy also served as a Deputy Register of Deeds for Koochiching County and on January 1, 1958 she was appointed Clerk of Municipal and Conciliation Courts by Judge M. Abbott. She was Deputy Clerk of Courts until she retired in 1979. Also during the 70s she was twice elected to the position of Court Commissioner.

Dorothy married Harold M. Thomson on April 10th, 1948 at Ascension Parish in Minneapolis.

She is survived by her children; Robert M. (Faye) Thomson of Tampa Bay, FL, Mary Jane Swarts of Eagan, and Patricia Tersteeg of Willmar, 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; Harold in 1993, Parents; and brothers and sister.
