SPICER - Dr. James P. Zachman, age 72 of Spicer, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at his home on Green Lake. He fought a long and courageous battle with Parkinson ’s disease. Memorial service will be 10:00 am on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. www.hafh.org

Jim was born September 26th 1940 in Melrose MN, the youngest child of Dr. A.H. and Eleanor (Gravelle) Zachman. He graduated from Melrose high school in 1958. From there he went on to attend the University of MN for pre-med and medical school, from which he graduated in 1965. He joined the Air Force in 1966 and served as a flight surgeon in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968. He completed his medical residency in Radiology at the University of MN and the VA Hospital in Minneapolis in 1972. He practiced radiology in St. Paul and western Wisconsin before joining West Central Radiology in Willmar in 1975. He retired in 1999 after a rewarding and fulfilling career. Throughout his life, Jim enjoyed many activities including skiing, swimming, golfing, hunting, fishing, and most of all traveling with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Mary Ellen (Harper) Zachman, four children: David (and Angie) of Louisville, KY, Mark of Farmington, Philip (and Erika) of Montevideo, Libby (and Nate) Miller of Brooklyn Park and four grandchildren. In addition are a sister Gerry Meyer of Melrose, and a brother Dr. Tom Zachman of Palm Springs, CA. He was loved and will be missed by family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Dr. John Zachman and a sister Noelle.
