MADISON, WI - Dr. Ronald M. Jensen of Madison, WI, died peacefully at his home on September 9, 2013 in Madison, WI. He had served parishes in Montana, Iowa, Wisconsin and in southwestern Minnesota.

He was born in Grand Falls (New Denmark), New Brunswick, Canada, the oldest son of Dr. John M. Jensen and his wife Ragnhild (nee Goetsche) on August 25, 1923. He received his elementary education in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He graduated from Spencer High School in Spencer, IA in May of 1941.

He graduated from Wartburg College in Waverly, IA in the spring of 1945, earning the Toft Memorial Award as honor student and honor athlete, lettering in football, basketball and baseball. He graduated from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN with the degree of Master of Divinity in 1948.

He was married to Arlene Nelson of Westbrook, ME on September 14, 1946. To this union was born three daughters: Anne (Henry) Robinson of Palo Alto, CA; Lois (John) Jacobsen of Madison, WI; and Kathleen (Randy) Gee of Berkeley, CA.

Ronald went on to obtain his PHD and established his own family life and marriage counseling company in suburban Chicago, IL.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Arlene, his three children and their spouses, and five grandchildren: Daniel and Nathan Jacobsen of Madison, WI; Robin and Emily Gee of Berkeley, CA and Nicholas Robinson of Palo Alto, CA. Also surviving are his sister, Margaret Rasmussen of Lombard, IL, and his brother, Rev. Frederik V. Jensen (Beverly) of Willmar, MN; six nieces and nephews; 13 grandnieces and nephews; six great-grandnieces and nephews.

Dr. Jensen was a writer for various Lutheran Church papers. In addition, he translated several books from Danish into English; among them was a biography of Martin Luther by the Danish professor and scholar, Dr. A. Th. Jorgensen of Copenhagen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law Bjarne B. Rasmussen; niece Marcia Lynn Jensen Hudak.

A memorial service for Dr. Jensen will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 5701 Raymond Rd., Madison, WI on September 29, 2013 at 12:00 noon, with visitation at the church one hour prior to the service.
