Drivers hurt in Highway 12 crash near Darwin, Minn.

LITCHFIELD — The drivers of two vehicles involved in a crash around 6 a.m. this morning along U.S. Highway 12 near Darwin were taken to Meeker Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

According to the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office, Michael Ostvig, 45, of Litchfield, was driving eastbound in a 1996 Toyota Corolla just east of County Road 14 when he struck a deer causing him to lose control and strike a westbound 2000 Dodge Caravan driven by Elsa Caballero, 36, of Cokato.

This crash is currently under investigation by the State Patrol. Also responding were the Dassel fire and rescue crews and Gold Cross Ambulance.
