DEER CREEK - Duane A. Losing, 71 of Deer Creek, died Saturday morning January 19, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 9 at the United Methodist Church in Hawick. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. A private burial is planned for a later date.

Duane Albert Losing was born April 22, 1941, in Scotland, South Dakota, the son of Christian and Henrietta (Gjerts) Losing. He moved to Hawick in 1959 where he farmed with his parents and worked at New London Material until his retirement.

On November 19, 1961 Duane was united in marriage to Phyllis A. Peterson at the United Methodist Church in Hawick. They made their home in rural Hawick before moving to Diamond Lake, eventually retiring to Deer Creek. He was known as a very active outdoorsman and loved gardening. Duane had a unique ability to accomplish many different tasks or trades, from wood working to metal fabricating and everything in between. He also enjoyed spending time with his wife, family members and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Phyllis; their two children Douglas Losing, Cheryl and husband Daniel Rouser all of Atwater; six grandchildren, Amanda Losing of Willmar, Jason Losing, Aaron Rouser, Kyrietta Rouser, Hayden Rouser and Samuel Rouser all of Atwater; two great-grandchildren Landon Losing and Aubrey Bautista; besides other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.
