Eagles honor Kerkhoff with Humanitarian Award, name Netjes the Eagle of the Year
WILLMAR -- Florence Kerkhoff and Brad Netjes were honored March 21 with the Willmar Eagles club's highest awards during the Willmar Eagles 70th anniversary celebration.
Kerkhoff won the Humanitarian Award for her volunteerism in Kandiyohi County, and Netjes was dubbed the Eagle of the Year.
Kerkhoff has been an active volunteer at the Shelter House on a daily basis. She dedicates her time to answer the 24-hour crisis telephone lines to allow the advocates to meet during the first hour of the day. On top of her personal commitment of time and talent, she has invested her own limited funds into the lives of battered women and their children.
Netjes was honored as Eagle of the Year after 32 years of membership and serving on the board of trustees for the last two years. Netjes does many things for the club "behind the scenes" that many do not see. He donates his time to keep equipment running, the upstairs cleaned and when he sees a problem or a need, he just takes care of it.
Netjes will be eligible for district honors.
