Earl Giinthir March 8, 1936 - Dec. 31, 2008

KERKHOVEN -- Earl Martin Giinthir, 72, of Kerkhoven, died Wednesday at Bethesda Heritage Care Center.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Kerkhoven Presbyterian Church. Burial will be later in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Pennock.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and for one hour prior to service at the church.

He was born on March 8, 1936, southeast of Kerkhoven to John and Kuni (Danner) Giinthir. He grew up in St. John's Township and attended District 77 School. He helped his parents on the farm.

He married Jeanette Petersen on Feb. 16, 1962, in Clara City. They lived on the Giinthir home farm and he worked for Nelson Construction, retiring in 1988.

He is survived by his wife; children: Renae (and Albert Rosemeier) Giinthir of Murdock; Bryan (and Jill) Giinthir of Montevideo; Scott Giinthir of Clara City; Robin Holmquist of Clara City; 12 grandchildren; and siblings: John (and LaVina) Giinthir of Minneapolis; Paul (and JoAnn) Giinthir of Pennock, Helen Kosta of Willmar and Margaret Nash of Kerkhoven.
