Eckhoff, Bloch take titles at 14th FL4
Kyle Eckhoff, a 22-year old college student from Willmar, ran unchallenged to win the 14th running of the Foot Lake 4 on Saturday morning by over two minutes. His time of 20:44 was among the fastest ever posted in the event but still more than a minute off Greg Liebl's record pace of 19:36 in 2007. Liebl did not defend.
The first woman to the finish line in downtown Willmar was Kari Bloch, a college student from Svea,in 25:50, 15th overall. Defending champion Katie Reigstad took second, 10 seconds behind Bloch.
The total number of finishers was 363, down about a 100 from last year. With walkers, over 500 participated. Proceeds benefit health programs in the Willmar area.
