House District 14B is a race between Republican-endorsed Jim Stauber of Cold Spring and DFL-incumbent Larry Hosch of St. Joseph.
District 14B covers the central portion of Stearns County, including Paynesville.
A first-time candidate, Stauber's only experience is an appointment to the Cold Spring City Council. He has not demonstrated a lot of campaign knowledge to date. In fact, he could not even complete biography questionnaires for the daily newspapers circulating in the district. Apparently, he does not want district voters to learn known about him.
Hosch has served two terms representing this district and is working on solutions to legislative issues. He voted to override Gov. Tim Pawlenty on his transportation veto and voted in favor of the statewide ban on smoking in public places.
A self-employed builder, Hosch also has served four years as mayor of St. Joseph. A young man with a family, he is in tune with the district's families. He has earned a third term representing the district.
The West Central Tribune endorses Hosch for District 14B.
