Editorial: It’s time to help those still in need
With just three days left until Christmas, many will be spending these last shopping days looking for just the right present. And most men likely just realized that shopping time is short, as Christmas is on Tuesday.
This weekend is a great time to remember those less fortunate at this time of year. For Christmas spirit is the giving spirit, especially to those in need.
We encourage our readers again to consider a number of local programs that are especially worthy of your support.
The Warm The Children campaign is currently at only 75 percent of its goal of $40,000. All donations — 100 percent — go directly to help cloth children in the region. The program is administered through the West Central Tribune, in partnership with Main Street Willmar and area social service agencies and schools.
The Salvation Army is in the middle of its annual Red Kettle campaign. This organization can use your cash or your time to ring the bell at its various locations. The organization strives to serve the needs within Kandiyohi County and also provide aid to the homeless.
The United Way of West Central Minnesota, based in Willmar, provide numerous programs and support serving Kandiyohi County and the surrounding area. The organization is in the midst of its annual pledge campaign.
Contact these programs as follows: Warm the Children at 320-235-1150; The Salvation Army at 320-235-2033; or the United Way at 320-235-1050.
There are also worthy organizations in your communities and in west central Minnesota that could use your donations as well.
Your contribution to the organization of your choice will make a fond Christmas memory for you and your family.
