Editorial: Speak up to help ID our Vision 2040 goals
The Willmar Lakes area community will have an opportunity through Thursday to contribute ideas and thoughts toward developing priorities within the Vision 2040 program.
The effort of the Willmar Lakes Area Vision 2040 program is to collectively identify, plan and implement what our connected community should look like in 27 years.
The Vision 2040 program is being funded by Kandiyohi County, Willmar and private donors.
The project is first focusing on four major sectors: economic vibrancy, things to do, well-being and inclusion.
The economic session was held Tuesday afternoon. Additional sessions will be held as follows:
* Things to Do: 7:30 a.m. today at Willmar Conference Center
* All topics: 4:30 p.m. today at New London-Spicer High School, New London
* Well-being: 7:30 a.m. Thursday at MinnWest Technology Campus, Willmar.
* Inclusion: 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Willmar City Auditorium
The intent of the Vision 2040 steering committee is to help identify critical issues and needs for the Willmar and Kandiyohi County communities, start planning projects to address the needs and priorities and develop action plans to seek and develop solutions to those needs and priorities.
Now is the time for community members to share their priorities for the needs and wants of their communities. Citizens are the key to helping identify, prioritize and plan the needs and wants of our communities over the next two decade.
That is why it is called Vision 2040.
