History made as Clinton secures Democratic White House nomination

Editorial: Special Forces are a U.S. strength in our resolve

Weekend events show that America is continuing its resolve through three administrations to pursue terror suspects wherever and whenever possible.

An al-Qaeda leader, Anas al-Libi, was nabbed in Libya Saturday by the U.S. Army’s Delta Force. This individual was among the original core of al-Qaeda. He also has been indicted in the United States in the 1998 embassy attacks in Kenya and Tanzania and will likely face criminal charges in the U.S.

A team of U.S. Navy Seals launched an operation Saturday in southern Somalia targeting the commander of Al-Shabaab, the terrorist group linked to al-Qaeda. This group claimed responsibility for the recent terror attacks of a Kenya mall. After the onset of a firefight, the U.S. team withdrew when they determined they would be unable to capture the commander alive.

These two attacks nearly 3,000 miles apart on the African continent signify the depth of the American resolve to pursue these terrorists wherever they are hiding.

We express our appreciation to the two Special Forces teams that carried out these missions over the weekend. It takes courageous individuals to carry out such dangerous missions to carry out the resolve of this country.
