OLIVIA -- Edna Nora Frehs Harshberger, 94, died Jan. 10, in Olivia.
The service will be at 11 a.m. today at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Maplewood. Burial will be on a later date at Union Cemetery in Maplewood.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be given to the Robert and Edna Harshberger Scholarship Fund, Gethsemane Lutheran Church. Maple Oaks-Phalen Park Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
She was born May 22, 1913, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She grew up in Winnipeg. She graduated from St. John's Technical High School. She graduated in 1935 from nursing at The Salvation Army's Grace Hospital. In 1936, she moved to St. Paul, where she worked at St. John's Hospital. In 1945, she became an American citizen.
She married Robert Harshberger on Nov. 9, 1940, in Winnipeg. In her later years she lived at Twin City Christian Home, Shoreview, and Presbyterian Home of Arden Hills. She later lived at the Golden Living Center in Olivia.
They were members of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Maplewood, where she was in the women's organizations. She volunteered in the Lutheran Chaplaincy Auxiliary thrift store, the International Institute and St. John's Hospital.
She is survived by two children: Heather (and Willard) Fluck of Hector and Bruce (and Janet) Harshberger of Loveland, Colo.; four granddaughters; and three great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2004, two brothers and a sister.
