Edna Zens March 3, 1914 - May 12, 2009
GLENWOOD -- Edna Zens, 95, of Glenwood died Tuesday at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Church of the Sacred Heart in Glenwood. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Glenwood.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood with parish prayers at 5:30 p.m. and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was born March 3, 1914, in Dovray Township, Murray County, to Edward and Anna (Prigge) Cohrs. She grew up on a farm in Dovray Township and attended country school.
She married Herbert Olson on June 24, 1939. They lived in Dovray. Herbert died in 1941.
She married Leo Zens on July 2, 1945, in Currie. They lived and farmed for 20 years in southern Minnesota before moving to Long Beach in 1965 where they owned and operated a small grocery store until their retirement in 1975. They lived in Minnewaska Township near Glenwood.
She is survived by her husband; four children: Alice (and Loren) Larson of Alexandria, Allen Zens of Milaca, Dean (and Irene) Zens of Glenwood and Anne (and JT) Thurston of Lander, Wyo.; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one brother: Ernie Cohrs of Westbrook.
She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law: Eileen Zens; one granddaughter; and nine siblings.
