CLARA CITY -- Eleanor Sadie Hoekstra-Van Den Einde, 88, of Clara City, formerly of Roseland, died Wednesday at the Clara City Care Center.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Roseland Reformed Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Tri-County Funeral Home in Prinsburg.
She was born Dec. 7, 1919, in Roseland Township, Kandiyohi County, to Henry and Emma (Kohrs) Brouwer. She grew up in the rural Roseland community and attended District 90 School.
She married William Hoekstra on June 7, 1938, near Roseland. They lived and farmed the Hoekstra family farm near Roseland until William's death. She then worked for the West Central Tribune in Willmar as a proofreader. She moved into Roseland in the mid 1970s.
She married Edgar Van Den Einde on Jan. 26, 1989, and they lived in Roseland. She became a resident of the Clara City Care Center in 1999. She was a member of Roseland Reformed Church where she was active in ladies aid and guild.
She is survived by her children: Virgil (and Lois) Hoekstra of Clara City, Lowell (and Karla) Hoekstra of Underwood, and Lloyd (and Deb) Hoekstra of Spicer, Verla (and George) Modderman of Montevideo; son-in-law: Dennis (and Karen) Sportel of Blomkest; stepchildren: Dennis (and Susanne) Van Den Einde of Saginaw, Luella (and Lowell) Larson of Minneapolis, Ethel (and Larry) Good of Mora, and Myrna (and Patrick) Esser of St. Michael; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Gladys Van Den Einde of Willmar and Esther (and Gordon) Hillers of Kerkhoven.
She was preceded in death by her husbands: William Hoekstra in 1966 and Edgar Van Den Einde in 2001; a daughter: Charlene Sportel; a stillborn son in 1945; and one sister.
