WILLMAR - Eleanor M. Rengel, age 97, of Willmar died on Monday, June 10, 2013 at Guardian Angel’s Care Center in Elk River. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am, Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Church of St. Mary in Willmar. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation with reviewal will be from 5-7pm Friday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar, visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Memorials may be directed to donors choice.

Born April 26, 1916 in Freeport, Minnesota, Eleanor M. Rengel was the daughter of Casper and Gertrude (Schwieters) Eickhoff. She lived with her family in Freeport, Paynesville, Greenwald, and Rockville. She graduated from Cathedral High School in the class of 1938. She was united in marriage to Gerald Rengel on November 30, 1939 in Rockville. The couple lived in several communities, including: St. Cloud, Minneapolis, Buffalo, NY, Evan, Marshall and in 1961 moved to Willmar. This union was blessed with six children.

Eleanor was a homemaker, while Gerry worked at the dental lab. They later owned and operated Gerry’s Liquors in Willmar. Gerry passed away February 1, 2002. Eleanor continued to live in Willmar and then moved to an assisted living in Maple Grove and was now living in Guardian Angel’s Care Center in Elk River.

Eleanor was baptized in Freeport and confirmed her faith in Rockville. She was a member of Church of St. Mary in Willmar where she was active in the women’s group.

She enjoyed gardening, flowers, playing cards and Bingo. Gerry and Eleanor enjoyed traveling throughout their married years together. Her family was very important to her and she enjoyed spending time with them.

Eleanor is survived by her children Alice (and Dr. Leonard) Parsons of St. Michael, Barree (and Roger) Boettcher of Andover, Wendy (and Gershon) Nowitz of Sarasota, FL, Vickie (and Gregory) Pederson of Mound, Duane (and Judy) Rengel of Spicer and Michelle Rengel of Maple Grove; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; sisters: Verina Sakry of Waite Park and Ramona Praught of Isle, MN.

In addition to her husband, Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Veronica Sauer, brothers: Leander, Fabian and Roman.
