PAYNESVILLE -- Elnora Orella Odell, 87, of Paynesville, formerly of Brooten, died Thursday at Koronis Manor in Paynesville.

A family service will be at Zumbro Lutheran Church in Rochester. Burial will be at a later date at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Brooten.

Arrangements are by Sunburg Funeral Home.

She was born Jan. 16, 1921, in Norway Lake Township, rural Sunburg, to Ole and Minnie (Jorgenson) Ellingson. She attended eight years of country school and graduated from Brooten High School.

She married Wallert Francis Odell of Brooten in 1940. She worked for five years at the Gambles store. She also worked several years as a bookkeeper at the Brooten Creamery and 25 years as bookkeeper and assistant to Dr. Frear, M.D. She lived at her residence in Brooten until having a stroke. She had been a resident of Koronis Manor since January 2001.

She served 10 years on the Glacial Hospital Board, acting as both secretary and treasurer. She also served as treasurer of Trinity Lutheran Church, and had been a Sunday School teacher and member of the church women and circles.

She is survived by her son: Wayne (and Ethelyn) Odell of Rochester; one grandson; three great-grandchildren; and two siblings: Oris Ellingson and Idella (and Sigfred) Knutson, both of Brooten.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one granddaughter.
