ATWATER --Elvera Louise Mahn, 85, of Atwater died Saturday at the Meeker County Memorial Hospital in Litchfield.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church, rural Atwater with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Atwater Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was born June 2, 1923, in Forest Prairie Township, Meeker County, to August and Freda (Schultz) Marquardt. She attended elementary school at rural District 71 and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1941.
She married Eldon Mahn on Nov. 2, 1948, in Litchfield. They farmed north of Atwater for several years then moved to rural Spicer and farmed there for 34 years. In 1986, they moved into Atwater. She worked at the Lynnhurst Rest Home in St. Paul for a short time. She worked several years at the Meeker County Courthouse doing office work.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church where she served as organist for 20 years, as church secretary for many years and taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school. She was president, vice president and treasurer of the ladies aid society. She was a member of the Atwater Area Block Nurse Program as a volunteer visiting the sick, shut-ins and elderly also driver delivering Meals on Wheels.
She is survived by her husband; children: Eloise and (Daniel) Mattheisen of New Hope, Elroy and (Sheri) of Phoenix, Ariz, Elgene of Atwater, Elbert and (Roberta) of Spicer, 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers; and daughter-in-law: LaCinda Mahn in 1991.
