Emergency responders at scene of serious crash at Highways 71 and 9

NEW LONDON — Emergency responders and law enforcement are responding to a serious two-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 71 and State Highway 9 west of New London.

According to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office, Highway 71 is closed north of Highway 9.

The crash involves a semi truck and a minivan, which emergency crews had covered with a tarp, according to Tribune photographer Ron Adams, who is at the scene.

A Lifelink helicopter had landed at the scene. Both vehicles came to rest off of the roadways.

Also responding are the New London ambulance and fire crews, Willmar Ambulance and State Patrol.
