Employment Plus writes first book
WILLMAR — The Willmar recruiting firm Employment Plus is making the finishing touches on its first book, “HR Matters: Why Putting People Before Profits Will Lead To More Profit.” The project was spearheaded by general manager Mary Warszynski, with input from the entire Employment Plus staff.
“We wanted to produce something that would be helpful to business, and show them that people matter. Sometimes, who you hire or don’t hire takes a backseat to other things in business. I think that’s a mistake. People are a business’s most valuable asset, especially when the economy is in recession,’’ said Warszynski.
The book was written this winter during what is usually a slow time for staffing business. To keep the momentum going during the “off season,’’ the staff at Employment Plus decided to start writing a book.
“Hopefully this project will encourage businesses to reconsider how they view their employees,’’ said Warszynski. “We believe employees are investments, not expenses.’’
Warszynski said employment numbers aren’t as bad in west central Minnesota. While the economy certainly isn’t booming, “We’re doing better than most areas of the country. It has a lot to do with our manufacturing and agricultural sectors. They’re the foundation for the economy out here. And I think that’s a good thing.’’
