MONTEVIDEO -- Erva Lucille Hokuf, 92, of Montevideo, died Friday at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bergen Lutheran Church in rural Granite Falls.

Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are by Wing-Bain Funeral Home of Montevideo. Memorials are preferred to the Cancer Society or Hospice.

She was born Feb. 7, 1916, in Granite Falls to Peter and Ingaborg (Belle) Brecke Highum.

She married Wilburn Hokuf on Sept. 28, 1940, in Rock Rapids, Iowa. They lived all of their married life on their farm in Stony Run Township. After he died in February 1996, she moved into Montevideo. She later moved into Burnsdale Apartments. When her health began to fail her, Erva became a resident of Clarkfield Care Center and later moved into Luther Haven Nursing Home.

She was a member of Bergen Lutheran Church and was active in Ladies Aid, holding officer positions at various times. She was also an active life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

She is survived by one nephew: Richard Highum; and four nieces: Vickie Muro, Marcia Hanson, Karen Hemmingson and Pat Manthei.

She was preceded in death by her husband; four brothers; and by four sisters, one of them in infancy.
