Born Sept 20, 1918 to Nels and Beret Haakenson, in Luverne, Minnesota. Graduated from Luverne High School in 1936.
Following graduation she worked in secretarial and clerical roles in Luverne, MN, Jefferson, Iowa, Los Angeles, Calif., Minneapolis, MN, Brookings, SD, and Washington, DC. She retired to Spicer, MN in 1984.
She passed away on April 6, 2014.
Preceded in death by her parents and four brothers - Albert, Adolph, Russell and Robert. Survived by her sister in law, Margaret Haakenson (widow of Robert), 6 nieces and nephews, Andrew Haakenson, Nelson Haakenson, Holly Smith, Nancy Pohlot, Kathleen Ballin, John Haakenson and numerous great nieces and nephews and cousins, as well as many friends.
Ethel requested that there be no funeral service or memorial service at the time of her death. She asked that her bode be donated to the Mayo Clinic for research and that was honored.
