DAWSON -- Ethelyn Marguerite Byhaug, 96, of Dawson, died Wednesday at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Sunday at the church. Arrangements are by Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home of Dawson.

She was born June 28, 1912, in Madison to Oscar E. and Charlotte (Lindseth) Skallerud. She graduated from Madison High School in 1930 and from teacher's training in 1931. She was a teacher in Lac qui Parle County for 2½ years and for five years served as librarian of the Dawson Public Library.

She married Thorvin Byhaug on Dec. 8, 1935.

She served as PTA president, American Legion Auxiliary president and 4-H leader, was a member of the Dawson Study Club, a volunteer reader and pianist at the Johnson Memorial Home, taught "Great Books" in the local school, and for 15 years served on the Lac qui Parle Cancer Society Board. She served her church as secretary of the church council, Sunday School teacher and was a 27-year member of The Flock, a Bible study group.

She is survived by her children: David Byhaug of Garland, Utah, Beth "Becky" (and John) Coleman of Woodbridge, Calif., Pamela (and Del) Winge of Hastings, Paula Byhaug of Dawson and Jane (and Don) Nemitz of Circle Pines; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister: Barbara Koethe of Sun City, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son: Keith; and one grandson.
