Evelyn A. Reuss April 26, 1906 - March 7, 2009
BENSON -- Evelyn Aleo Reuss, 102, of Benson, died Saturday at Homestead Place Care Center in Murdock.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Benson. Burial will be in Benson City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson and will continue at the church one hour prior to the service.
She was born April 26, 1906, in Wisconsin, to William and Lena (Lecke) Zick. Her family moved to the Benson area in 1912. She attended school through the eighth grade in Holloway. She then worked on the family farm.
She married Edwin Reuss on Nov. 19, 1925 in Holloway. The family farmed together north of Appleton, then moved to a farm in Tara Township near Danvers. She actively worked on the farm in addition to her housework. After the children were grown, Evelyn worked as a cook at the Viking Café. They retired and moved into Benson. Edwin died in 1981. She moved into Park View Estates and lived there until her 100th birthday, and most recently lived in Murdock at Homestead Place.
She is survived by her children: Warren (and Shirley) Reuss of Benson; Delores Allen of Elma, Wash., Marlys Nelson of Brooklyn Park, Phyllis (and John) Shannon of Elma, Wash., and Sandra French of South Lake Tahoe, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-randchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers; two sons: LeRoy and Dennis; and four grandchildren.
