Evelyn Schwinghammer Jan. 1, 1919 - Aug. 26, 2009
GRANITE FALLS -- Evelyn Marie Schwinghammer, 90, formerly of Granite Falls, died Wednesday at the Immanuel St. Joseph Hospice facility in North Mankato.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Granite Falls.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Wing-Bain Funeral Home of Granite Falls.
She was born Jan. 1, 1919, in Albany to Raymond and Antoinette (Rehkamp) Borgerding. She grew up and attended school in Albany.
She married Larry Schwinghammer on June 24, 1939, in Albany. They moved to Sacred Heart in 1949. She worked at the Post Office in Sacred Heart and assisted in the family Chevrolet dealership. Larry died in 1991. She moved to Granite Falls in 1996, and she has lived in Mankato for the past five years.
She was active with the Ladies Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Granite Falls.
She is survived by her children: Sandra (and Howard) Knutson of Brainerd, Paul Schwinghammer of Mankato, Joyce Lampe of Winter Park, Fla., Jean (and Mike) Turmer of Charleston, S.C., and Thomas (and Laurie) Schwinghammer of North Mankato; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her brothers and a sister.
