Evelyn Wiedeman Sept. 10, 1928 - June 10, 2009
NEW LONDON -- Evelyn Catherine Wiedeman, 80, of New London, died Wednesday at St. Cloud Hospital.
A private service will be at a later date. Arrangements are with the Green Lake Funeral Home in Spicer.
She was born Sept. 10, 1928, in Decatur, Iowa, to Max and Dora (Benner) Fillebeck. She grew up in Decatur and received her early education there. She moved with her family to Council Bluffs, Iowa, where she graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. She attended the local community college and took classes in nursing.
She married Robert Wiedeman on June 20, 1948, in Council Bluffs, where they lived. In 1960, they moved to New London. They owned and operated Little Crow Sports Center in Spicer for 45 years. She worked as cook at the New London-Spicer High School for about 10 years in the 1970s.
She is survived by her husband; son: Gary Wiedeman of Spicer; daughters: Sherry McKinney of Arvada, Colo., and Karen Wilson of Westminster, Colo.; five grandchildren; brother: Frank (and Joann) Fillebeck of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and sisters: Doris "Bibs" Peterson of Council Bluffs and Dee (and Rudy) Riefler of Wheat Ridge, Colo.
