An excessive heat warning remains in effect for parts of west central and central Minnesota and all of southern Minnesota until 10 p.m. this evening.
Temperatures and humidity will be a bit lower than Wednesday in parts of west central Minnesota north of a line from Marshall to Willmar to St. Cloud. A weak cool front is breaking the heat in those areas.
It will be another day of near record heat and high humidity for parts of west central Minnesota south of the Marshall-Willmar-St. Cloud line.
Temperatures in southern Minnesota into western Wisconsin will be in the 95 to 100 degree range with heat index values of 105 to 112 degrees this afternoon.
The cool front will settle near the Iowa border this afternoon and will then lift back north tonight and Friday as a warm front. This will bring another day of hot temperatures and high humidity to southern Minnesota and into western Wisconsin.
This combination of very hot daytime conditions with very warm overnight lows will result in very dangerous heat conditions. Those in buildings without air conditioning or working outside should use extreme caution and drink plenty of fluids and seek relief in air conditioned environments when possible.
