Expect another 1 to 3 inches of snow, Willmar area now in winter weather advisory

WILLMAR -- The National Weather Service is forecasting another 1 to 3 inches of snow to fall in Willmar today, with temperatures around 19 and a wind chill of 0 to 6 degrees above zero.

The weather service has canceled the blizzard warning for much of west central and southwestern Minnesota. Instead, the area is under a winter weather advisory until noon.

According to MnDOT, travel conditions remain as hazardous, with blowing and drifting snow on all area highways. Travel is not advised, according to the www.511mn.org website.

The President's Day storm has left 17 inches of snow in Eden Prairie, 16 inches in Bloomington and 13.3 inches in Menomonie, Wis. Area snowfall totals, as of 8 a.m. Monday, included 11 inches at Morgan, 10.5 inches at Redwood Falls, 8 inches at Litchfield.

There is no official snowfall total listed for Willmar, but estimates are that at least 12 inches has fallen so far in the city.
