U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman Shawn Neudauer says details about the investigation aren't available because it is ongoing. But he says initial reports are that eight people are being held on administrative charges.

Administrative charges are a tool ICE uses to apprehend possible illegal immigrants.

Messages left with a spokesman at Sparboe were not immediately returned.

Sparboe describes itself as the fifth-largest shell egg producer and marketer in the United States. The company says it serves retail, wholesale and foodservice customers in 26 states.

Litchfield is about 65 miles west of Minneapolis.

State police are helping secure the scene.
