Both will start their new positions June 12, according to Police Chief David Wyffels.

Felt started as a patrol officer with the department in July 1990 and was promoted to sergeant in December 2000. He was one of three candidates for the captain's position.

Jahnke began working for the department in January 1994 and was named to the local Gang Enforcement Team in February 2006 and to the CEE-VI Drug Task Force in January 2008.

He was one of six candidates considered for the job.

The local department has been operating without a captain since Wyffels was named chief last July with the retirement of longtime chief Jim Kulset.
