Felt, a senior guard, poured in 37 points as the Cardinals thwarted Tracy-Milroy-Balaton 67-51 in a non-conference boys basketball game.

Felt broke the record held by former Danube great Bob Bruggers. Bruggers had 2,364 career points. Felt now has 2,371.

"Obviously, it's big with all the schools involved (21 in the coverage area)," said Felt, via cell phone while en route to watch his sister, Sam, play in her section game. "I guess I really never thought I would be able to break it."

The game, rescheduled from Feb. 26, was played at 5 p.m. so fans could also watch the Redwood Valley girls play Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop at 8 p.m. in the Section 3AA-North semifinals in Granite Falls.

Redwood Valley (19-5) led TMB 33-22 at halftime with Felt having accounted for 20 of the Cardinals' points, including a jumper with three seconds left in the first half.

"My shot felt good tonight," said Felt, who made five 3-pointers and now has 100 beyond the arc this season. "Especially in the first half."

Easily working around screens set up by his teammates and utilizing a jab step or crossover to create space, Felt calmly dropped in jumper after jumper.

Felt started the second half much as he finished the first half. Only 11 seconds had elapsed when Felt snapped the cords with a three-pointer from the right corner. He drained another three just 44 seconds later.

Two free throws and a baseline shot later, Felt had tied the record. The record-breaker came on a one-handed runner in the lane with 10:36 left.
