Fine Art Festival Friday-Saturday in New London, Minn., at Mill Pond
NEW LONDON — The third annual New London Fine Art Festival, a juried exhibit and sale, will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday on the shores of the Mill Pond.
Renville artist Dona Larkin is the 2013 featured artist. She studied art at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design for two years, and has been printing full time since the 1970’s. While proficient in acrylic, gauche and watercolor; her favorite medium is oil. She creates paintings from miniature to mural, with most of her work being in a moderate size. Her impressionistic paintings are rich in depictions of rural and small-town America.
Larkin is known as a painter’s painter whose work is admired and collected by other artists. Her paintings can be found in many private and public collections, and in the past she has had her paintings sold by the auction house Sotheby’s. In a time of economic stress when many artists are leaving their profession behind, Larkin reportedly has a waiting list for paintings, which are mostly created by commission.
