PEMBINA, N.D. — The fire chief in the northeastern North Dakota city of Pembina is homeless after a fire at the house where he was a renter.

WDAZ-TV reports that the cause of the blaze last Thursday wasn't immediately determined. No one was hurt.

The home was one of the oldest in Pembina, having been built in 1861.

Fire Chief Jon Kalka says he also lost a home to flooding in 1997, and this experience hasn't been nearly as traumatic.
